Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic in the first half of the 20th century. It is one of the easiest to learn of the Latin dances due to its simple basic step and easy-to-learn lead and follow.

It's typically danced a bit closer than Salsa and the music is renowned for ranging from upbeat and energetic to romantic and sensual.
